Webinar Basics

Do you know what a webinar is?  How does it work?  What are the benefits?

You can now attend live seminars without leaving your home or office! Save on travel.  Save time.  Save money.

Online seminars—or webinars– is the new way to learn or share knowledge. If you have a high-speed internet connection and a PC headset, attending a webinar can be a more economical and practical alternative to traditional seminars.

One of its benefits would be savings on travel costs.
If you live in Metro Manila, you know how stressful it can get during the rush hours.  Traffic is terrible!  Yes, the coding scheme might help a bit but because of the sheer number of vehicles being bought is increasing, you know it’s only a short term solution.  Because of traffic congestion, most people are late for meetings and are just not productive.  Not only do you waste time, you use up more gas and spend more on maintaining your vehicle due to wear and tear.

A classic example would be a salesman trying to meet as many clients as possible on a given day.  If you were to market and do your presentation through a webinar, you can schedule an hour a day (or week) to meet your potential clients, without having to travel.  This saves you a lot of money!  Your potential leads then increase because you can invite several at a time.

It’s very convenient.
Unlike traditional seminars, where you go to a physical venue to hear the speaker discuss his topic, a webinar session removes any geographical constraints.  You choose your preferred place.  It could be at home, the office, at your favorite coffee shop that offers free WiFi or even at the beach!  No need to worry about what to wear (unless you choose to use your webcam during the session).  You also get more rest (or sleep) and finish your tasks because you don’t have to worry about waking up early just to make it on time (considering the traffic you have to go through).

It’s easier than you think it is.
Some are afraid of trying out new technology especially if they don’t understand how it works.  Attending a webinar is easy.   All you need is a link to join the session.  Copy that onto your browser and you’re in!  Just remember to have your headset ready so you can hear the presentation.

If you’re interested in knowing more about webinars, ProFora Media conducts a weekly webinar for newbies every Saturday at 3pm.

  • hi,

question! how about the speed any specific speed to be required to have a good quality conversation? do you have a personnel who conduct webinar conference, for a fee? how much will you cost for this service?

  • Hi Sherry.

Minimum bandwidth speed would be around 364kbps. This is both for upstreaming and downloading. Do take note that this is true for “audio only” webinars. If we were to include video, then we normally recommend at least 1mbps.

The service will depend on how the webinar event / conference will be hosted. Let me know what you need. I can give you a more accurate quote.

  • Hi! Can you please give me a quote for your webseminar services? Do you provide webseminars? Our company plans to have a webinar for 12 locations every Tuesday from May 17 until October. Hope to hear from you soon!

  • Hi Francesca. Thanks for dropping by. Will email you directly and need to know more of your requirements. Since a webinar can broadcast to any location in the country (or world), I may need to clarify the 12 locations you mentioned in your comment.
